Jon Baskin
Director, Producer, Editor

Six months after graduating with his B.S. from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, Jon began shooting his first film. Weathered and Torn is a document of the Dream Syndicate’s last tour of the Northeast. He also produced and edited the documentary 14th Street Between 2nd and 3rd. This film, which was shown at various film festivals and on PBS, tells the story of the homeless and merchants coexisting on this New York City block. Jon has been an editor for the past 15 years at places like USA Network, ESPN and Saturday Night Live. He currently edits at HBO. He created Hitchin Pictures in 1995 after purchasing a CP-16 to begin shooting BEEF.

 

Musicians

John Freund fronts the rock trio Bigger than a Breadbox in which he plays Hammond organ, bass pedals, sings, writes all the songs and thinks too much. He has started The Clashing Plaid, producing music and HEAD events in NYC. John has done audio work on several film projects with fellow S.U. alumnus Jon Baskin. His playing credits include Xmembers, Hot Sauce Gizzard (Beef), the HEALERS!, Deep Banana Blackout, The American Musical Theatre, Marly Hornik.

The Poets

Cheryl B. is a multi-genre writer who has performed her work throughout the U.S., Canada, Great Britain, and Australia. She was a member and publicist of Jezebelle2000: the Glam Lit Tour, a five-week spoken word tour of North America that garnered rave reviews in various national and local publications. In addition to her five chapbooks, her work appears in a number of anthologies and literary journals. Her play The Donut Hole, which is mentioned in the film, was staged both in New York and as part of a residency in Australia. Cheryl is also the editrix of the literary website www.motoroilqueen.com. Cheryl is a graduate of NYU and received her MFA in Creative Writing from The New School.

Anne Elliott has performed at the Whitney Museum, Alice Tully Hall and on the poetry stage at Woodstock ’94. She is currently collaborating with a musician on an opera. She also has a publishing company called Big Fat Press that creates chap books for fellow poets.

Gloria continues to organize and host events for art organizations and activist groups. Her work has been published in the poetry anthology Aloud, Voices From
The Nuyorican Poets Café and recorded on the CD Family Affairs. She is also writing fiction based works and short plays. Her sculptures are exhibited in various New York galleries. She currently is an adjunct art instructor at a NY State college.

Stephanie Mauceri (aka snuff), in addition to being a featured poet for an MTV spot, has worked with ex-members of the band "Book of Love" on a 6 year music and poetry collaboration called "2morecherry". Their CD "Helvetica Morphology" was released independenly in 1999. She is currently working solo on a words/acoustic guitar project called "evesmyth", and on a screenplay.
